CANDLE CARE

When our candles are in the process of being made, we ensure that a safety and warning label is placed at the bottom of every candle vessel. Please read the label before using your candle. This label contains very important information on lighting and best practices for safe use.

Before - lighting your candle

We, at The Greenhouse Candle Studio strongly encourage that care and attention is taken when burning a candle. Please read the following guidelines listed below.

  • Make sure you always burn your candle(s) in a well-ventilated space.

  • Always place your candles on a flat and even surface away from flammable objects before lighting.

  •  Avoid placing your candle in an area where there may be drafts, ceiling fans or moving air.

  • Trim the wick to 1/4” before each use. Make sure to let the candle cool completely before trimming the wick for the next burn. This will ensure that your candle will burn, cleaner, longer and evenly.

  • Ensure that the placement of your candle(s) is out of reach of children and pets.

    During - while burning

  • Do not touch or move a burning candle.

  • Avoid burning a candle for more than 3-4 hours at a time. By trimming the wick, this will prolong the burn time and reduce excess carbon which can build up on the wick. This happens regardless of the type of wax or fragrance oil used.

  • Let the wax on the surface of the candle melt from edge to prevent tunneling. This will also make your candle last much longer as well as releasing maximum fragrance for as long as you have your candle.

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

After- extinguishing the candle

  • Never extinguish candles with water.

  • Never use the candle lid to extinguish the flame, as this will trap smoke inside.

  • Make sure a candle is completely extinguished before leaving the room.

  • Avoid blowing out a candle as you risk the possibilty of blowing wax out onto the surface.

  • Remove wick trimmings and debris from the wax pool.

  • Do not move candles until the wax is cooled and set.

  • When there is only 1/4” of wax remaining in the container, stop burning the candle. Scrape out the remaining wax and dispose of it. Our containers can be easily cleaned by using just soap and water. Soy is biodegradble.

  • Reuse our containers any way you like! Here are some ideas…a small vase for flowers, store homemade spices, dried plant seeds for next growing season. add water and place your washed and cut herbs inside ready for use.

  • Our handy cotton bag that comes with every 8 oz glass candle can be reused as well. Here are some ideas… for jewelry, make a lavender sachets, for travel, store tea lights, add pebbles to the bottom of the container, add some soila and plant a succulent !

CANDLE SIZE & SCENT

  • Essentially, a larger room would require larger candle. The diameter of a candle impacts the size of its melt pool.

  • A larger melt pool allows more fragrance oil to vaporize into the air, therefore enhancing the scent throw.

  • Smaller candles are suited for more intimate spaces, where their delicate aromas can gently permeate the area without being too strong.

  • When choosing a candle for your home, determine where the candle will be placed, as this will assist you in purchasing the right size candle
